Westfield 277 New Market

When Scentre Group, the Australian arm of Westfield, decided to redevelop their Westfield 277 Newmarket shopping centre, their plan was to create a Living Centre, where customers could be entertained, relax, dine, socialise, and shop. 

 

Completed in 2019, the development has set new benchmarks as a world-class retail and lifestyle destination for New Zealanders.

 

The major re-build saw Scentre Groups in-house design professionals seek out the best array of product options. 

 

From the project’s inception, Nauhria Precast worked closely with the design team, to understand their vision, and to provide sound knowledge and advise on the endless options available in Architectural Precast.   

 

Through this process, Nauhria Precast constructed several samples for the design team to allow them to visualise in real life what the product would look like before embarking on full scale production.  

 

Part of the design teams’ vision was to ensure the shopping centre was in harmony of the local landscape of the area – the rock form of Mt Eden.  To replicate this, Nauhria sourced high grade 3-dimensional rubber rock texture form-liners direct from Germany.  Precast elements were then cast on these mould forms, with a Super Black Oxide, creating iconic and dynamic, rock textured concrete walls. 

 

Achieving a balance of old with new, Scentre’s design team also selected Nauhria Precast’s awarding wining Monarc Creative Precast, unique Milling capabilities to provide a seamless dynamic pedestrian scape to the undulating footpath walls.
