PROJECT: SH16 – St Lukes Bridge Piers  |  COMPLETED: July 2017

Helping Auckland motorways flow

Nestled in the centre of Auckland’s North-Western Motorway oval shaped piers were required, to be poured insitu,  for the support columns of the replacement bridges at the St Lukes / SH16 interchange.

Oblique Ovals stirrups were required to be manufactured to specific and exacting shapes from 500E grade high tensile rebar.

To achieve the correct form Nauhria worked with exacting templates provided by the client to allow specific stirrup shapes to be formed and checked before delivery and installation.

Each pier consisted of multiple arrays of compounding stirrup overlaps that were  congested around the columns heavy vertical deformed bars.

Nauhria’s detailing expertise coupled with the hands on experience of the steel fixing crews were able to eliminate the risk of project delay from rebar collisions and redesign from the project by preempting the methodology and challenges  of constructing the cages insitu. Solutions were prepared and proposed for advance engineer approval before works in the centre of the live motorway progressed.

The project resulted in a complex well planned process with a safe and flawless execution.
